After the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II in 1917, the last Romanovs entered a final chapter marked by confinement, uncertainty and the collapse of the world they had ruled. Held first at Tsarskoe Selo, then transferred to Tobolsk in Siberia, and finally moved to Ekaterinburg in 1918, the imperial family lived under constant guard as revolution transformed Russia around them. Stripped of power but still bound together as a family, Nicholas II, Alexandra, their children and loyal retainers became the tragic symbols of the end of imperial Russia.

После отречения императора Николая II в 1917 году последние Романовы вступили в последний этап своей истории — время заключения, неизвестности и крушения мира, которым они когда-то правили. Сначала содержавшиеся в Царском Селе, затем перевезённые в Тобольск в Сибири, а в 1918 году — в Екатеринбург, члены императорской семьи находились под постоянной охраной, пока революция полностью меняла Россию вокруг них. Лишённые власти, но остававшиеся единым семейством, Николай II, Александра, их дети и верные слуги стали трагическим символом конца императорской России.
