ENGLISH

As Yugoslavia collapsed into war in 1991, volunteer and paramilitary formations became a visible part of the conflict. Among the most recognisable was the Serbian Volunteer Guard, founded in October 1990 and commonly associated with Željko Ražnatović “Arkan.” Deployed in the fighting in Croatia, the unit quickly gained a reputation that made it one of the most controversial formations of the early Yugoslav wars. This set portrays a force that became inseparable from the violent fragmentation of Yugoslavia and the bitter conflicts that marked its destruction.

SRPSKI
