ENGLISH

Founded in 1924, the Roter Frontkämpferbund was the militant mass organisation associated with the Communist Party of Germany during the turbulent years of the Weimar Republic. Recognisable by its uniforms, red flags and raised-fist symbol, the RFB marched through German streets at a time when political confrontation increasingly spilled into violence. Its members clashed with police, nationalist organisations and Nazi SA units in streets and meeting halls across the country. After the bloody May Day disturbances in Berlin in 1929, the organisation was banned throughout Germany. This set recreates one of the most striking political movements of the Weimar era.

DEUTSCH
