During the Second World War, the Free India Legion was created from Indian volunteers and prisoners of war under German sponsorship, with the political aim of supporting the struggle for Indian independence from British rule. Closely associated with Subhas Chandra Bose in its early development, the legion became one of the most unusual foreign formations raised by Germany during the war.

Its soldiers wore German uniforms adapted with Indian insignia and served mainly in Europe rather than in India itself. Although their military role remained limited, the Free India Legion occupies a distinctive place in the history of anti-colonial movements, wartime alliances and the global dimensions of the conflict.

This set portrays one of the most unusual and historically fascinating units of the Second World War.

द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान फ्री इंडिया लीजन का गठन भारतीय स्वयंसेवकों और युद्धबंदियों से जर्मन संरक्षण में किया गया था। इसका राजनीतिक उद्देश्य ब्रिटिश शासन से भारत की स्वतंत्रता के संघर्ष का समर्थन करना था। अपने प्रारम्भिक विकास में यह टुकड़ी सुभाष चन्द्र बोस से निकट रूप से जुड़ी रही और युद्ध के दौरान जर्मनी द्वारा बनाई गई सबसे असामान्य विदेशी सैन्य इकाइयों में से एक बनी।

इसके सैनिक जर्मन वर्दी पहनते थे, जिन्हें भारतीय चिह्नों के साथ अनुकूलित किया गया था, और इनकी सेवा मुख्यतः यूरोप में रही, भारत में नहीं। यद्यपि इसकी सैन्य भूमिका सीमित रही, फिर भी फ्री इंडिया लीजन उपनिवेशवाद-विरोधी आंदोलनों, युद्धकालीन गठबंधनों और इस संघर्ष के वैशिक आयामों के इतिहास में एक विशिष्ट स्थान रखती है।

यह सेट द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की सबसे असामान्य और ऐतिहासिक रूप से आकर्षक इकाइयों में से एक को प्रस्तुत करता है.
