During the Great Patriotic War, thousands of Soviet children were left orphaned, homeless or separated from their families. Some were taken in by Red Army units and became known as “sons of the regiment.” Living alongside the soldiers, they carried messages, helped with supplies, cared for equipment, assisted the wounded and sometimes performed dangerous duties close to the front.

Too young for war but unable to escape it, these children became part of the daily life of the Soviet army. Their story is one of survival, courage and the extraordinary bonds created between soldiers and children in the most brutal circumstances of war.

Во время Великой Отечественной войны тысячи советских детей остались сиротами, лишились дома или были разлучены со своими семьями. Некоторых из них принимали на попечение части Красной армии, где они становились известны как «сыны полка». Живя рядом с солдатами, они доставляли донесения, помогали со снабжением, ухаживали за снаряжением, помогали раненым и иногда выполняли опасные задания вблизи линии фронта.

Слишком юные для войны, но не сумевшие избежать её, эти дети стали частью повседневной жизни советской армии. Их история — это история выживания, мужества и необыкновенных связей, возникших между солдатами и детьми в самых тяжёлых условиях войны.
