ENGLISH

During the violent years of Prohibition, Eliot Ness became one of the most famous federal agents in American history. In Chicago, he led a small team of agents chosen to attack the illegal breweries and distribution network of Al Capone’s criminal empire.

Known as “The Untouchables” because of their reputation for resisting corruption and bribery, Ness and his men carried out raids, seized equipment and disrupted the organisation’s lucrative bootlegging operations. While federal tax investigators ultimately secured Capone’s conviction in 1931, Ness and the Untouchables became enduring symbols of the battle between law enforcement and organised crime.

Their story would become inseparable from the legend of gangster-era Chicago.
