ENGLISH

In ancient Rome, gladiators fought before roaring crowds in one of the most dramatic spectacles of the ancient world. Trained in special schools and armed according to distinct fighting styles, they entered the arena as symbols of courage, discipline, violence and public entertainment.

Some were slaves, prisoners or condemned men, while others were volunteers seeking money, fame or survival. Armed with nets, tridents, swords, shields and helmets of striking design, gladiators became some of the most recognisable figures of Roman civilisation.

This set recreates the fighters of the arena — men whose lives were shaped by combat, spectacle and the judgment of the crowd.

LATINE
